Pre-match comments from Mr. Terim and Belhanda
Our coach Fatih Terim and our player Younes Belhanda gave their comments about the upcoming round #2 match-up against Paris Saint-Germain.
Here are Mr. Terim's comments:
"We are going to play against one of the contenders to win Champions League. It's a club with a massive budget and they are also the current back-to-back champions of Ligue 1. They have a coach that I admire and high-quality players. They are one of the rising clubs of Europe in highest level. We watch them with utmost respect but we also want to be respected and get a respectable result. We are familiar to Champions League and such strong and elite opponents. We don't deny their status as the favorite to win the game. They have one of the deepest rosters in Europe in terms quality and quantity. No game is won and lost without playing a minute on the field. We are going to try to make a surprise and get an unexpected result. Our fans can trust us to try to do even more than we are capable of. I think our team is going to react this game in a critical way. It is not easy to play this game just after a derby game but we won't put forward any excuses tomorrow, injuries or absences or fatigue... When we started the season we knew it was going to be a game every three days. We are doing our best to prepare for this. We have to get used to play in this tight schedule and intensity.
Our coach also commented about PSG coach Thomas Tuchel's respectful and praising words about himself. German coach was quoted to say "Terim is a storied coach in terms of his immense experience. For me, it's a dream to manage a team against a club he is coaching. It is honour to play against coaches with his status and tenure".
Mr. Terim responded by these words: "I thank him for his kind words. It is an honour to hear such praise from an international coach. Tuchel is a young and mature coach. I admire his work and his approach as a coach."
Belhanda evaluated the match-up with these words: "We need to stop our opponent to play their own game. They like to have the possesion. If we can stop them from having the ball, we will have the advantage. PSG is one of the best clubs in Europe but we have to play an effective game."
